4 Pete's Sake ALS Foundation

The foundation was created in honor of Pete Catucci. While Pete was alive, he personally assisted PALS who were in need and found it tremendously rewarding.  At that time, he realized there was a big gap between patient services provided by great organizations like the ALS Association, and the overall financial needs of patients.

One of the things that prompted our desire to create the 4 Pete’s Sake ALS Foundation was a statement made by Pete, which he felt people battling ALS don't have a voice. Unfortunately, we found that statement to be true on two fronts:

(1) ALS patients physically battle with the ability to speak on their behalf and personally fight for change (2) The disease gets very little government or public attention as well as very limited funding.

This is why we created our mission statement: "We are your Voice.”

Since its inception in 2009, the organization has donated thousands of dollars towards the hefty expenses often incurred because of the disease.   We are a 501(c)(3) charity and volunteers do all the work so our administrative costs are negligible.  Our primary fundraiser is a golf tournament which is held the last Friday in April each year.  We host golf, dinner, silent and live auctions and provide entertainment.  Current and past corporate sponsors include companies of all sizes but a special thanks goes to our historical Title Sponsor: Communications Workers of America Union (www.cwa-union.org). PALS and their immediate families are welcome to attend the evening festivities free of charge.  Approximately half of the proceeds go to ALS research through our partnership with ALSTDI (www.als.net)  and the other half to local PALS which are identified through the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter  (http://www.alsa.org).
